I received a letter containing a four-digit card number that did not belong to me, along with instructions to call the provided number.
Following a call about a supposed charge on my Synchrony Sams Club card, I was instructed to call another number, but after verifying, I found no such charge on my account, so I did not proceed with the call.
There seem to be alot of misconception about Care Credit cards, they cant be used at Amazon, and you didnt need to look up this number

After receiving a text message about 'fraud alerts' related to my card account, I called the provided number, 1-800-420-5598; the person who answered claimed that Synchrony's main telephone number was experiencing technical difficulties and offered to assist with a Walmart card, asking for my credit or debit card number to activate it, which I declined to provide, and after asking several questions related to fraud, the person hung up the call.
I recived 2 texts today asking to verify charges to my care credit account, and since then i have been recieving calls on my landline, luckily i googled this and didnt respond
I discovered that this number belongs to BP credit card services, as they contacted me regarding unauthorized purchases made with my credit card, and upon returning their call, they promptly cancelled the card and issued a new one.
Initially, I suspected a scam when my mother received a text about fraudulent charges on her credit card, but upon verifying her account, the charges were legitimate; however, the phone number provided in the text differed from the one listed on her account.
To err on the side of cautioin, verify any Synchrony accounts online or dial the number printed on the card.
