Got a dubious call from NZ Assist, ignored it, then it rang a few times and dropped without any voice message.

Opinião de especialista
Block the number and report it if you suspect fraud. Most callers from +6498871385 identify themselves as NZ Assist and use a classic telemarketing script that hammers on home ownership and mortgage reduction. They often ignore a clear “no thanks” and may repeat questions to pressure you. Let the call end, don’t share personal or financial details, and add the number to your phone’s block list. If the calls continue, file a complaint with your carrier and local consumer protection agency. Keep a short log of dates and times – it helps authorities spot patterns and act faster.

Guy introduced himself as Johnathan, saying he could shrink mortgage terms. He kept asking – over and over – if I owned property and worked as a landlord. When I pressed for details, he only mentioned Auckland and later claimed his office was next to Spark Arena, as if he’d checked a map. It reeked of nonsense, so I told him no and hung up, lol.
These appear to be scammers.
A NZ Assist cold caller mentioned a way to pay off the mortgage faster; after I said I wasn’t interested, they hung up. It seemed like a debt‑consolidation or high‑risk investment pitch.
She claimed to be from NZ Assist, sounded pretty sloshed, rattled on mortgages, I told her I don’t have a home, she replied 'oops' and cut the call, lol.
Someone calle me and ask if i am a homeowner, thats all
The user feedback is bad
Fraud concerning investment
Got a ring from this line on May 8 2024, didn’t pick up because the caller was unknown, no voicemail was left. A quick search dropped me on this page, so I blocked the number. With scams on the rise, sites like this are handy, cheers!
On 7 May 2024, the number 09 887 1385 rang; I answered with “hello, who’s calling?” and the call ended instantly with no response. Then on 3 May 2024, an Australian number (+61 885 179 136) connected me to a person named Tina from NZ Assist who tried to sell life insurance. Despite repeatedly telling her I wasn’t interested, she continued her pitch until I hung up mid‑sentence.
Its a scam, dont bother ansering the call
As soon as i answered, they immediatly hung up, maybe because i didnt say my name
A deep‑voiced man rang yesterday around 5 pm, asked if I was working and owned a mortgaged home. I repeatedly said I’m not interested in being a landlord, yet he insisted, claiming everyone else he’d spoken to wanted it. I told him plainly I’m not, and wished I’d just hung up.
Beware of this scammer, who will try to gain your trust by asking questions before attempting to steal your money
The caller inquired whether I own property, then ended the call.
Caution is advised when dealing with this number
NZ Assist answered promptly and sounded reliable; I'd trust this number for inquiries.
Encountered a cold call laced with attitude.
The number that contacted me yesterday remains unknown
The call was entirely spam-related.
I couldn't identify who called; it was just a vague unknown number.
Received a cold call offering financial solutions to become mortgage‑free and financially independent; I was puzzled when I asked how they obtained my number and learned it was via a random number generator. The caller was pushy about home ownership, and after I repeatedly said I wasn’t interested, they pushed their website, which I declined. They then made a slightly rude comment hoping I manage to get through life OK, which I found amusing. They claimed no one had ever said they weren’t interested before.
This number has been flagged by the user as both bad and worthy of caution.
I recommend reporting this call as spam
The feedback from users regarding this number is overwhelmingly negitave
A representative from NZ Assist called to discuss mortgage financing advice; they were courteous when I declined.
the caller was inquiring about my employment status and whether i own a home or not
Tina from NZ Assist rang me on 10/10/23. She rushed her intro, trying to skip the usual questions. I cut her off and asked her to repeat. She then said she wanted to chat with homeowners about investments and mortgages. I told her I wasn’t interested; she sounded friendly with a Kiwi accent. Even after that, she kept probing – ‘do you own your place?’ ‘any mortgage?’ – I reminded her I’m not buying anything and hung up. She was a bit pushy and mildly annoying, but I didn’t have to get rude, hey.
NZ Assist telemarketer reached out, didn't really catch my attention.
