Telstra tech support scam calls – what to watch for? - +61 8 7092 2589 ((08) 7092 2589)

Opinión del experto
Reports describe callers claiming to be Telstra tech support despite the recipient not using Telstra. These callers often switch identities, posing as banks or online retailers to create urgency around a supposed account breach or unauthorized transaction. Never give out personal or banking details to an unsolicited call; instead hang up and contact the organisation directly using a known number. Use call‑blocking tools or your carrier’s spam filter to reduce exposure. Report the number to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or your phone provider. Staying skeptical and verifying requests protects you from scam attempts and keeps your personal data safe.

The call went straight to a voicemail and then disconnected; a second attempt followed without leaving a message, so after reading reviews I blocked them. I had a similar issue with 0476313891 earlier, possibly related.
