Received another call from the usual scammers who switched to +6138779823. As usual, they left no voicemail.
During my lunch break, someone from TKW Research rang about a local water provider survey. I answered the non‑intrusive questions, but when I spelled my name they abruptly ended the call. Blocked the number.
The person identified as TKW Research from Melbourne seemed legitimate after a quick web check, but the missing details made me suspect a scam. I've flagged this number as spam, and ended up blocking three of their lines. I have little to say about Westpac in this context.
Even though the call centre claims to conduct legitimate market research, they're still breaching the Do Not Call list. All incoming calls from this number are now forwarded to Lenny for handling.
Someone posing as Telstra warned that my modem was being shared due to high data usage; when I said I'd contact Telstra directly, the call ended.

TKW Research Group says they’re a long‑standing member of the Australian market research association; make sure you know the difference between telemarketers and legit researchers, plus check the Do Not Call Register – market research is exempt, you know.

The missed call arrived at 5:40 pm on 10/04/18; no voicemail was left, and based on other reports it was probably about Westpac loan refinancing.
As a Westpac customer I was happy to join the survey; they only asked general feedback, no personal data, and my banking manager confirmed the legitness of the survey and TKW Research, definately cool.
My work mobile rang three times this morning; the first two were silent, the third a guy apologized for a “bad line” and said he was doing ANZ business banking research. When I mentioned my account issue, he got flustered and told me to contact ANZ directly – kinda sketchy, 😂.
These callers aren't legitimate researchers as Mike and John claim; they clearly work for a scam operation. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
A woman asked if I’d take a survey. When I questioned how she got my private, DNC‑registered number, she put a supervisor named "Jeremy" on the line, who claimed they were permitted to call because it wasn’t a sales pitch. Why is a random survey firm allowed to harass me at any hour? They shouldn’t be able to call at all!
Based in Melbourne, TKW Research is a legitimate market‑research firm. They don’t scam or sell, only request demographic data for analysis, kept confidential by law. They conduct surveys for banks, government and other organisations, calling between 9 am‑8 pm on weekdays and up to 5 pm on weekends. Market research is exempt from the do‑not‑call register. My wife, who has limited English, received a call requesting extensive personal details. She hung up when she said she needed to discuss it with me first.
Someone said they were calling on behalf of Westpac and asked if I’d answer a few questions. Either it was a scam or Westpac assumes its customers will talk to anonymous callers.
