Expert Opinion
Like a wolf in sheep's clothing, the call from +448082802784 can appear reassuring yet hide a threat. The majority of reports point to Santander using this number for genuine fraud‑prevention outreach, but scammers frequently mimic the same script, asking for full card details or birth dates. Keep any personal data to a minimum; verify the call by hanging up and dialing the official number on the back of your card or through the bank’s app. Ask for the caller’s name and reference number, and treat the interaction as a security check and verify independently before responding.

Wondering why Santander would call me when I don't hold an account there; it feels like a scam.
A legitimate Santander security call was made to confirm that a scheduled payment was authentic. Simultaneously, the merchant I was trying to buy from warned me of a payment issue – all for my own safety.
This number appeares to be a scam
It was certainly Santander. Suspicious of the text received, I contacted them via the app. They verified fraudulent eBay purchases attempted via Apple Pay using my card, which I never use there. Thankfully, the card was halted, funds are being returned, and a replacement is on its way.

A text message arrived with the typical 'press this button to respond yes or no' nonsense. I recognised it as a scam immediately. I checked my bank and all was fine, no withdrawals or pending transactions. I will continue to monitor, and if any money is missing, I will contact Santander to block my card!

SCAM! Claimed to be from Santander, but I don’t bank with them.
The caller pretended to be from Santander, but since I don't hold an account with them, it was clearly a scam.

I missed two calls, yet they appear to be from Santander, as others have reported. I had a payment declined shortly before, received the usual fraud‑check SMS from Santander, and an email from the merchant confirming the transaction failed, so I'm fairly certain it was legitimate.
I missed two calls from this number, but it seems to be Santander as others have mentioned. A payment I made was declined shortly before, accompanied by the usual fraud check text from them and an email from the merchant indicating the transaction failed, so I believe this is legitimate.
