Beware of Santander‑impersonating scams! - +44 808 280 0878 (0808 280 0878)

My 91-year-old mother received a call from this person claiming to be from Santander. Due to her hearing difficulties, she asked them to repeat themselves, but they hung up instead. This incident has made her very cautious about answering calls now. It's clearly a scam and quite distressing for someone of her age.

Supposedly from SANTANDER, the text message said: 'Santander: We've declined these transactions on your card ending XXXX. 30-06-2024 13:44:15, at 'SP KICKSCREW' for £156. If you recognise ALL of the transactions and can confirm that you made them, REPLY Y. If there are any you don't recognise, or if you think they could be fraud, REPLY N. Or you can call us on 08082800878. Enter this three digit PIN when asked 129..'

A scam text, allegedly from Santander, was received, which is concerning, as it included the last digits of my credit card, despite not addressing me by name.

Confirmed fraud by Santander, beware of this number

Multiple calls to our landline in a single day. The line goes to voicemail with a 'press to continue' message. Similar to previous scams claiming to be from Santander's fraud team. Confirmed as a scam after contacting Santander directly. Beware, it's fraudulent.

Initially, I thought the message was genuine, as it appeared to come from a legitimate Santander number, but subsequent messages revealed a scam, attempting to elicit information about my account and a recent Amazon transaction. Fortunately, I checked my accounts and verified the scam through this website.

Why has this not been addressed after all these months? I received a convincing text from SANTANDER followed by another number regarding a disputed transaction. The messages contained transaction specifics that couldn't have been guessed. This is the most believable scam I have encountered. How did they manage to know any of my card digits and that I had recently made an order with the retailer in question? Data is leaking from somewhere, which is very alarming and it’s clear that the companies we trust to protect our hard-earned money can't stop it.

After verifying with Santander, I found out that this number is indeed a fraudulent scam impersonating them.

A scam text message was sent to my mobile, attempting to use Revolut to claim two payments of over £100, which is clearly a fraudulent scheme

This scam is quite sophisticated, involving an Apple Pay transaction.

Received a text from a genuine Santander number, followed by another from 074806 194497 detailing a transaction: "Amazon Prime, £95.00, or call 08082800878 pin 490." A highly dangerous scam.
