Expert Opinion
The caller, using the number +448009169170, appears to be part of a sophisticated scam operation, posing as a representative from Santander bank. They use social engineering tactics to gain the trust of their victims, often sending text messages beforehand to make the call seem legitimate. The scammers are convincing, using names like Samantha and claiming to be investigating suspicious activity on the victim's account. However, their true intentions are to extract sensitive information, such as dates of birth, addresses, and PIN numbers. It is essential to be cautious and not provide any personal details, as these scammers can become abusive if their attempts are thwarted.

Fortunately, I avoided falling prey to this deceitful scam by ringing my bank, who verified it as fraudulant, so its best to just hang up immediatly
A text arrived yesterday notifying me of an unexpected payment of £239.99 made to an internet site. I called Santander, but they had no record of it on their systems. Today, I received another message appearing to be from 'Santander' stating ... ‘SANTANDER SECURITY CHECK: A call will be made shortly regarding unusual activity. Your telephone advisor is Samantha. Your six-digit OTP is xxxxx.’ When Samantha called, she identified herself.... I remained silent. She ended the call.
I received a highly convincing scam call from a woman claiming to be Samantha, who was inquiring about alleged fraudulent transactions; although I didn't provide login details, I did inadvertently share my date of birth, city of residence, and a one-time passcode, which I later realised was a mistake - a warning to others: if you receive a call from this number, do not engage and instead contact Santander directly to report the incident and verify your account.
A Santander-related scam
Samantha sent a text through my Santander thread, mentioning unusual account activity and that I’d receive a call soon. It appeared very convincing, but I grew suspicious when she insisted I log into my online banking despite my saying I wasn’t near a computer. She seemed increasingly irritated. When I refused to provide the last TEN digits of my card, she hung up. They nearly got me. Very clever.
Complete scam. I’ve encountered these fraudsters twice now. The first time, they were nearly convincing until they asked for my PIN. When I realised it was a scam, he became abusive and hurled insults. The second time, I played along, let him talk, then said, “Do you think I’m foolish?” He started abusing again and hung up. Disgusting behaviour !!!
A person named Samantha contacted me regarding unusual activity on my account, asking to verify it wasn’t me. Messages appearing to be from Santander also arrived. Though it seemed genuine, it turned out to be a fraud.
Samantha from Santander, or so she claimed, rang me about some suspicious transactions on my account, but I wasnt convinved, she wanted my 5 digit pin, but I didnt give it to her, and then she hung up, I think it was a scam, especialy since Santander usualy texts me if theres any suspicious activity
