This number contacted me. The caller knew my name, but I didn’t recognise him. He’s rung from various numbers, which I’m now documenting. Calls often come in the afternoon, sometimes on Saturdays. I recognise the voice and disconnect straight away, but it’s unsettling. He seems to have mastered number spoofing.

This number is indeed associated with the Nationwide Credit Card Fraud department, but it has been duplicated. When fraudsters call, it will show the Nationwide number. If you receive a call and possess a Nationwide credit card, they may sound very convincing, but do not share any information over the phone or return the call immediately, as they will still have the line open. To ensure you connect with the legitimate Nationwide fraud department, wait for 5 minutes before dialing back or use a different phone - or even better, visit the branch! Comments suggesting this is a safe call because it appears on the card are either from those unaware of telephone fraud or from the scammers themselves...

Nationwide called to check for unauthorised use of card, but when my husband checked in branch, they said there were no notes on our account, so it was a scam, beware and dont give your details
I frequently receive calls and texts from this number linked to Nationwide, despite never having an account with them. It's frustrating that phone providers allow anyone to purchase text sender names instead of using actual numbers and enable number spoofing. Thus, if you lack an account, it's certainly a scam, and possibly even if you do have one.
