A call claimed to be from Santander’s fraud team, citing unauthorised activity and even reciting the last four digits of my card; they warned of a freeze and a branch interview. After hanging up, my bank confirmed it was a scam.

Received a fraudulent Santander‑style text message.

A message posing as Santander claimed my Google Pay registration failed (which I never requested) and urged me to call the number, even quoting the last four digits of my card.

Fraud. Exercise caution - it appears to be from Santander, making it seem legitimate, but they never instruct you to return calls via text. You don’t need to repeatedly set up Apple or Google Pay; this is merely a tactic to ensnare you.

A call was received, allegedly from Santander, regarding suspected fraudulent activity on a business account; the individual provided some accurate information but requested further details, at which point the call was terminated.

A warning to all: this number is a scam! After my wife entered her credit card details and 3-digit security code on a website, she recieved a 6-digit security code, and was then asked to call this number to verify a Google Pay account setup, which we later found out was a scam and had to be reported to Santander, who terminated the link, what a releif!

Received a message with a code to add card **** to Google Pay. It warned not to share the code and suggested calling 0800 028 8103 if unsure. Shortly after, another message arrived stating the card had been added to Google Pay. The message appeared to be from Santander, making it seem genuine at first. However, upon contacting Santander through my trusted number, they confirmed it was a scam, as they never include phone numbers in their communications.

Fortunately, I was vigilant and recognised the scam for what it was. After verifying with Santander, it became clear that this number is not affiliated with them. The scammers even attempted to trick me into changing my password via text message, but their plan was foiled. It's a sophisticated scam, and I fear others may not be as cautious.

After ordering something on Amazon, I received an OTP code that seemed unusual - instead of the typical format, it was a short numeric code. Unfortunately, I entered the code, which led to a notification that I had set up Apple Pay, despite having a Samsung device, prompting me to immediately freeze my bank card.

A fraudulent call claiming to be from Santander asserted that they had blocked two attempts to set up Apple Pay and Google Pay, along with a transaction attempt at Argos. Having previously worked in a fraud department, I was immediately suspicious. After following a seemingly convincing script, the caller mentioned sending a code to my mother, instructing her to confirm receipt by saying 'Ben'. When the code arrived, it was from a legitimate Santander number, stating 'here’s your OTP to set up Apple Pay on your iPhone'. We decided to contact Santander for safety, prompting the caller to pressure us, claiming that without providing the code immediately, they couldn't implement additional security measures for the account.

Receiving three emails and four texts at an ungodly hour of 1:15 am was alarming, especially since the messages appeared to be genuine communications from Santander, but fortunately, the incorrect account number and the sheer volume of messages within a short span raised suspicions, and it's worth noting that all the messages pertained to Google pay, a service I don't utilise.

It appears that this number is being used by someone posing as a representive of Santander bank

Notwithstanding the negative comments above, I received a convincing text from a number supposedly used by Santander, but it was likely a scam, as it requested completion of Apple Pay registration on an expired card, prompting me to investigate further.
