Expert Opinion
Picture this: a seemingly innocuous ring from a familiar UK mobile number turns into a tense standoff with fraudsters posing as your network provider. These callers often impersonate giants like EE, Vodafone, or Three, pushing fake deals or demanding account access to snag bank details. Spoofing hides their true identity, making it feel legit— they've even tricked EE into verifying texts. Silent hangs, heavy breathing, or call centre chatter are red flags. Block immediately and report to Action Fraud. Warn vulnerable family members; never share info over unsolicited calls. Hang up and verify directly with your provider's official line. Stay vigilant— these pests thrive on haste.

According to EE, the number belongs to them, yet someone exploited it for spoofing, pretending to be EE and attempting to access accounts for banking details. My coworker noted the scammer used their address to send an EE bill, which oddly contained over 80 pages of call logs with various numbers and durations.
