Expert Opinion
Guess what many people assume about that mysterious NHS text – it’s either a scam or a legit reminder. The bulk of reports point to genuine appointment confirmations from the NHS, often including a PIN and DOB for portal access. Still, the unfamiliar number can trigger suspicion, so always cross‑check the details in your official NHS app or call the hospital directly. Verify the hospital name, date, and department before replying or clicking any link. If the message asks for personal data beyond DOB and a PIN, treat it as potential phishing. Keep a log of the text content in case you need to dispute a missed appointment later.

I experienced the same situation, receiving a text that instructed me to click a link for my NHS appointment in Acton!! These scammers are the lowest of the low and deserve to be imprisoned for eternity🤬🤬🤬
A text message stated... You have a apointment on 20/09/21 at 14:10 Princess Royal University Hospital. To confirm attandance, reply YES 1692, to rebook reply REBOOK 1692 or text CANCEL 1692 if the apointment is no longer necesary. Missed apointments cost the NHS £160, which is rediculous. These scammers are taking advatage of people with genuin health issues, putting them at risk of finacial loss 😡
