I got a text just now, contacted HSBC about it and discovered it was a scam, now I’m waiting for a replacement card.

Late last night, many users reported receiving a text claiming to be from HSBC’s fraud team, asking for a Y or N reply. The safest move is to ignore the message and call the bank using the number on the back of your card or the official website. Never click links or provide personal details to an unknown number. If you suspect a fraudulent transaction, log into online banking directly to verify. When in doubt, treat the call as potentially unsafe and let the bank handle the investigation. Blocking the suspicious number can also reduce future nuisance.

I received a message that referenced an ‘HSBCFraud’ alert and warned about a £59.99 Curry’s purchase, using the wrong four digits of my card and omitting my name. The reply number differed by only one digit from HSBC’s official contact, which made me suspect an internal disgruntled employee. I verified with the bank and they confirmed the texts were not genuine.
Received an HSBC alert concerning an unauthorised payment.
The number was a legitimate HSBC line; I received a text about a fraudulent transaction, verified the alert in my banking app, and was relieved to confirm it.
A legitimate text arrived from this number; someone had the long number linked to my debit card. I didn’t reply, but when I called HSBC they confirmed it was theirs. My card has now been cancelled and a replacement is on its way. Thankfully the bank stopped the transaction. HSBC advises that if you’re ever unsure about a text or call, don’t respond and instead call the number on the back of your card. Stay safe, everyone.
A risky ploy tries to extract more data; the text pretends to be an HSBC fraud alert, yet the phone number is bogus. Replying Y or N triggers another message with a slightly altered number, which is the fraudster. Avoid dialing any of those lines—contact HSBC directly using the number printed on your card.
I keep receiving weekly texts from 07537 438060 claiming to be an HSBC fraud alert, asking me to reply Y if I made a transaction or N if I didn’t.
It turned out not to be the HSBC fraud team – the number was off by one digit.
The phone number is indeed HSBC’s; after a fraud alert about an unauthorised upcoming payment, I called the number on the back of my card and the issue was resolved.
Fraudsters pretending to be from HSBC's fraud team sent a link to click on. I verified with HSBC using the number on my debit card, and they confirmed these scammers attempted to transfer funds. If I had clicked the link, it would have confirmed those transfers. So please DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS. The real HSBC fraud team has blocked my card to stop any further attempts by these scammers to take my hard-earned money and are sending me a new card.
For me the message turned out to be genuine – a call to HSBC confirmed they had sent the text. If you get a similar alert, ring HSBC using the number on the back of your card; they’ll verify it over the phone.
In my case, the communication from this number was legitimate, as confirmed by HSBC, but I would advise others to verify the authenticity by calling the number on their card
I received a legitimate HSBC message warning of possible card fraud.
A legitimate text from HSBC was received, warning of potential card fraud
Ignore anyone saying they’re from HSBC – they aren’t. My wife received a convincing call from this number, hung up, then confirmed with HSBC that it was fake. Hang up and call HSBC via the official website number if you get a similar call.
It's essential to be cautious when receiving calls from this number, as it is not affiliated with HSBC, despite claims to the contrary. A call was made to my wife, and the individual was quite persuasive, but she ended the call and contacted HSBC directly to confirm its legitimacy. The result was that HSBC denied making the call. If you receive a call from this number, it's best to hang up and contact HSBC using the official number on their website.
Negative review
This number has been linked to unauthorized access to a bank account, with transactions verified without the account holder's knowledge or consent.
The number appears legitimate and was even referenced in a text sent to verified HSBC fraud, yet many still label it as fraudulent.
This is a legitimate number, also mentioned in a text from HSBC Fraud. I’m unsure why so many are labelling it as fraudulent.
Reference to HSBC was noted.
The caller claimed to be from HSBC.
This is a scam – do not respond. Verify the number against the one printed on the back of your card only.
Dont reply to this number, it's a scam, only use the phone number on the back of your card to check.
Just recieved a text message from this number, contacted HSBC and it was a scam, now i'm waiting for a new card to arive.
Got a legit HSBC text last night and rang the number on the back of my card first thing today. HSBC verified fraudulent activity on my account, blocked the card and flagged a shady US transaction. They’ve cancelled the card and are sending a replacement. Don’t ignore the alert – give HSBC a ring on the back‑of‑card number for peace of mind. Cheers!
Typically, I rely on this site for such alerts; the number is legit – the HSBC portal shows the message exactly as you received it. If you’re unsure, dial the number on your card’s back, state “Fraud” as the reason, and they’ll confirm any suspicious activity. Mate, that’s the safe route.
I can confirm this is a genuine HSBC number; after receiving a text, I called the number on the back of my card, and HSBC informed me that there had been fraudulent activity on my account, which they had blocked, and a new card is being sent out.
This website is reliable for such messages. The number is legit if you check HSBC's site. If unsure, call the number on your card and say 'Fraud' to check for issues.
