Received a text purporting to be from EDF, inquiring if assistance was needed for topping up a prepayment meter. It suggested contacting them to talk to an agent. Nonetheless, it asked if one wished to opt out by replying with a reason, like not having a prepayment meter. There was no way to respond, so I checked here and discovered it’s a new scam. Blocked the number and removed the message.

Opinia expertului
It seems there's a bit of a mix-up with this number, +447480589950. While some users confirm it as a genuine EDF contact number, many others report it as a scam. The typical scams involve texts about cancelled direct debits, requests for meter readings, and offers of support for vulnerable customers, often asking for personal information. These messages often seem plausible at first, but red flags include unsolicited contact, requests for bank details, and links to suspicious websites. If you receive a call or text from this number, be cautious. Verify any claims by contacting EDF directly through their official channels. Don’t click on any links or provide personal information. If you suspect a scam, block the number and report it to the relevant authorities, such as Action Fraud. Stay vigilant, and don't let the scammers catch you off guard.

They pinged me asking for meter readings, but I’m not an EDF customer, mate.
Legit EDF contact that's getting faked by fraudsters to seem trustworthy. They're after personal info and bank details for a direct debit to clear supposed debts. I've got no outstanding bills—stay alert and avoid responding, as it might be scammers masquerading as EDF.
Loads of texts coming through day and night
Hello, it appears this number is associated with EDF. Their app prompted me to text for details on switching away from EDF. I sent the message through the app on 15/01/2025 at 10:48, but the reply only came on 16/01/2025 at 15:10—perhaps not fraudulent, merely a sluggish energy provider.
This is a messaging service from EDF, as confirmed on their official website.
Apparently, a text message was recieved claiming to be from an energy supplier's support team, offering assistance to vulnerable customers over Christmas, however it appeares to be a scamm.
I got a random text from someone called Sophie, it said “Good Afternoon, How can we help today?”
Received an SMS falsely claiming to be from EDF. Avoid contact.
This number serves as the official text contact for EDF Energy for customer enquiries.
They addressed me by name and asserted that a direct debit had been stopped. The caller introduced themselves as 'Linda', clearly unaffiliated with any genuine organisation.
Today, I received a phishing text from this number, purporting to be from the government regarding winter fuel allowance; I blocked the number and didn't click on the suspicious link, which was a shortened 'tinyurl' rather than an official GOV.uk link. Lately, I've been getting a lot of spam texts, and I've been forwarding them to the GOV UK Spam Report text service, 7726, which then requests the phone number and adds it to their reports; as a former employee of the Dept Health & Social Care, I'm aware that this service is used for statistical purposes and to investigate fraud and crime, which can be verified online. It's infuriating to see these scammers preying on vulnerable individuals.
This number is a scam, they asked me for pictures of my meter readings
As an EDF employee, I can verify that this number is a legitimate EDF contact through SMS/WhatsApp
This appears to be a scam related to an energy provider. It was claimed to be from a third-party service, supposedly the EDF customer team. An American-accented message stated the number is no longer in use. Do not call or answer this number.
A text message inquiring about the occupancy of my home and the amount of money in my meter was received, which is highly suspicious and not affiliated with EDF as claimed
Fraudulent call pretending to be from EDF, requesting a response to a text message.
During the past few days, I recieved multiple calls from this number
Apparently, a text message from this number claimed my direct debit had been canceled, which proved to be false after checking my account, leading me to believe it's a ploy to obtain my banking details
I was texted by this number stating that my direct debit had been canceled. Upon checking, everything was in order, so I believe this is a scam attempting to obtain my banking information.
Receiving pointless messages from WDT, supposedly on behalf of EDF, is utterly frustrating
Verified as an official EDF contact number
In a previous post, I suspected a scam, but this number is listed on my EDF energy bill. I might call instead of responding to the text.
I was sent a text message supposedly from edf questioning why my metre hadn't been topped up recently, despite having done so the day before; it was later claimed that my telephone number couldn't be linked to an account, which is clearly a falsehood given the initial contact
Dirty rotten filthy scammers preying on vulnerable people. Little do they know their time will come and they will be dealt with accordingly. #### !!!
Recieved a suspicious text from this number claiming to be EDF, but it has all the signs of a scam, including requests for personal infomation.
This contact number is officially used by EDF for Whatsapp communication
I contacted this number for help. Last week, my electricity bill was over £4000, and now it’s doubled to over £6000. This is definetly a scam pretending to be EDF.
Fraudulent energy scheme
