Expert Opinion
Callers with Indian accents posing as UK Health Department officials often inquire about Covid vaccines before shifting to health insurance details, prompting wise decisions to hang up immediately. Debt collection ploys, masquerading as Citizens Advice or government schemes, emerge frequently, demanding personal info on unsecured debts—classic scam tactics. Silent calls, voicemails with vague requests, or hoaxer delays further signal fraud, with fax-like rings upon callbacks confirming spoofing. Block the number straight away to avoid harassment, report to authorities like Action Fraud for investigation, and never share details over unsolicited calls. Enable spam filters on your phone for added protection against such persistent nuisances.
