Γνώμη ειδικού
Imagine getting a call from +443457034034 that says it’s from Barclays and asks for security questions. That scenario is a classic phishing attempt. Never share personal data such as account numbers, passwords or dates of birth over the phone unless you have independently verified the caller. Hang up, check the official Barclays app or website, and contact the bank using the number on your card or statement. Report the number to your phone provider and to the FCA or Action Fraud. Keep a log of the call, block the caller, and regularly review your account for unauthorised activity.

A call came through from what appeared to be an Indian call centre - the background was quite noisy and chaotic. A woman with a pronounced Indian accent stated she was from "Barclays Bank," where I have an account. She was aware of my full name and requested my date of birth, at which point I declined to provide any personal details over the phone. According to data privacy regulations, any entity that records calls must inform you and obtain your consent for recording personal conversations - there was no such notification or request - yet all call centres record conversations for "quality and training" purposes, especially if they represent a UK bank. For this reason, I have marked this number as "Dangerous."
This is undoubtedly a fraudulent call.
A letter urging my husband to call this number turned out to be a scam. Barclays confirmed its illegitimacy, and the branch verified it as fake. Always verify through official channels and report such incidents.

Given that I have no outstanding loans or debts, I am perplexed as to why I received a call from this number.
I didnt bother picking up the call
A woman identified herself as being from Barclays, attempting to reach a 'Holly Whittaker'. I was completely taken aback when I persistently requested a password. Regardless of her explanations, without the password, she wouldn’t get anything from me apart from my insistence on ‘what’s the password’! The takeaway is, if you want to ascertain if a trusted organization is genuinely trying to contact you, provide them with a password to keep on record and inform them they must provide it before you even acknowledge their call. If banks can request passwords through their systems, there’s nothing stopping you from asking them for one when they ring you. Lol.
Today, I received a call from this number. As it was Saturday, I was uncertain about the caller's identity, so I chose not to answer. After the call ended, I quickly searched online for information. They didn’t leave any voicemail, which left me relieved after seeing all these reviews.

At 12:29 today, a woman called from 0345 703 4034 to discuss 'personal banking'. I was driving and preoccupied, so I informed her I was occupied. She suggested I call back through the app. Upon returning home, I contacted Barclays via the app, and they confirmed this was not an official Barclays number. This is a scam number! Always verify before sharing any information. I reported the number to Barclays.
The caller falsely claimed to be from Barclays, but after verifying with Barclays, it's clear that this is a fraudulent call.
Barclays do collection
Although the call was brief and didn't even ring for long, it's suspicious, especially since Barclays should be aware of my IVA status and refrain from contacting me.
