Expert Opinion
It appears that the caller, purportedly from a reputable bank such as Co-op Bank or Smile Bank, is attempting to deceive individuals into divulging sensitive information, including security details and login credentials, under the guise of verifying accounts or preventing fraudulent activity. The scammers are using spoofing tactics to make the call appear as though it is coming from a genuine bank number, adding to the deception. Many users have reported being asked to set up new accounts, transfer funds, or provide personal details, which are all major red flags. If you receive a call from this number, it is essential to be cautious and not give away any information. Instead, hang up and contact your bank using a published number to verify the authenticity of the call. Remember to always prioritize fraud prevention and never provide sensitive information to unsolicited callers.
