Expert Opinion
Calls that reference the Co‑operative Bank’s fraud team often feel official, yet the feedback swings between genuine safety checks and unsettling harassment. Most recipients describe an automated verification asking for birth year, month, last four digits and transaction amount – a typical anti‑fraud protocol. When the call is recognised as a bank number, answering can confirm a legitimate large payment, but the same script is also used by scammers to harvest details. If you’re unsure, hang up, then log into your online banking to verify any pending alerts. Never disclose full PINs or passwords over the phone, and report suspicious numbers to your bank’s fraud desk.

I got a call from the Co-operative Bank's automated fraud prevention service, it was about a transaction I made, and it was all legitamate.
Had a great experience with Cooperative Bank Fraud Prevention, they helped me with a large money transfer to buy a new car and checked everything along the way, had to do the usual double check and then a phone call which i missed and then a text to confirm it was me, glad they are there to check on things:
Recently, I experianced a similair situation and submitted two secure messages through my online account, expressing concerns regarding the security of these contacts and the lack of notification from the bank about this fraud prevention method. After reading comments from others, I am now anxious about the transaction I confirmed via landline, and I am awaiting a response from the bank via their messaging system. Thankfully, positve responses from others have alleviated some of my anxiety, though I will remain woried untill I recieve a response. Thanx to those who have responded helpfully.

Following extensive research and conversations with Customer Services, it has been confirmed that this is indeed the Co-op's genuine Fraud department contact number, although their automated alert system is flawed and potentially hazardous
Although this is a Genuine Co-op & Safe number, it sound's alot like them scam's from Amazon, Microsoft etc, so i've posted a warning on some helpful site's: "Recieved 9:07, 29/6/20. A dangerous scam number. Claim's to be from the Co-operative Bank with urgent info: 'press any key to continue'. I've reported this to the Bank and Police." If they have legit security concern's, they should send a real Fraud agent to call the customer by name and alert them personally, it's just good practice and courtesy. Hopefully this post will help other's avoid what happend to us today
I can confirm this is the Co-op's anti-fraud number and it's safe to answer
