After speaking with an Asian lady who seemed unsure of what she was doing, I contacted the HSBC fraud team using the number on the back of my card to verify the legitimacy of the call. The UK team seemed unaware of the issue and confirmed a payment had been processed. I then made another payment, which triggered another message about potential fraud, leading to a lengthy and frustrating conversation with a man with a strong accent.
I recieved a call from someone with a strong accent, claiming to be from HSBC's fraud department, but I was sceptical and told them I thought it was a scam. I then contacted First Direct, who assured me that the call was genuine, but I think their procedurs need improving.
