Until HMRC’s senior management addresses their unacceptable governance issues, both current and historic, I recommend that taxpayers be cautious about communicating with HMRC, whether by phone or in person.

My uncle immediately sensed that the call he received was suspicious, and when asked for his name, he jokingly replied that he was Bob Dylan. The lady, claiming to be Officer Jenny Wilson, proceeded to inquire about other household members, and when my uncle responded in the negative, she accused me, his nephew, of being a tax evader, which has left me infuriated.

I've already dealt with HMRC and see no reason for them to contact me via this number.
