Those callers were pure scammers. I picked up, never gave any consent, told them they were fraudulent, and ten minutes later I started receiving texts from random charities thanking me for signing up for a PIN, a magazine, etc. I end up blocking anyone claiming to be ‘Beneficial’ on a daily basis.
