Vinted verification code scam – how to protect yourself! - +44 20 8092 5845 (020 8092 5845)

Expert Opinion
At around 06:55 on a Sunday, several recipients reported hearing a robotic voice reciting a six‑digit verification code they never requested. The pattern of rapid, repeated calls from the same 020 prefix, often paired with voicemails, points to a coordinated phishing effort that exploits trust in services like Vinted. Ignoring the call, never sharing the code, and promptly blocking the number are the quickest defences. Users should also review recent account activity, enable two‑factor authentication, and lodge a complaint with the Telephone Preference Service. Keeping a log of call times can help authorities trace the source.

Got a Vinted verification code via an automated call – it's legitimate if you asked Vinted for a code.

At 06:55 on a Sunday, the phone rang four times in rapid succession from four consecutive numbers, each delivering a ‘Vinted’ code – clearly a scam!
A call landed on my landline where an automated voice recited a six‑digit code, repeated it and warned never to share it with staff or anyone else. I wasn't engaged in any activity that required a code. From earlier messages it seems either my number was entered accidentally or the scammers dialled the wrong sequence.
