O2‑impersonating scam calls – how to protect yourself! - +44 20 8089 2084 (020 8089 2084)

They claimed to be from 02, but didnt know what i was paying, possiable scam, i have a 02 contact

Pretended to represent EE, my mobile provider, yet asked about my monthly payments. I pointed out that genuine EE staff would already have this data and ended the call.

A definite scam call. I had already received a call from someone named Steven, with an Indian accent, which seemed dodgy, from a different Leeds-based number - 0113 531 3750. The call from this number appeared more legitimate since the person was English and said they were calling from London. When they sent a CAP(?) code to renew my contract and retain my number, I thought that was odd, especially with the 'Security Warning' message they also sent. When I refused to provide the code, they ended the call! Be cautious! I contacted O2 to inform them and check my account, and they recommended changing my password.

They’re trying to sell me an O2 phone contract, knowing my name and when my contract ended, though they seem unaware I’ve already renewed. This is the 12th different number they’ve used, including 02037693380, 02038076376, 02038076184, 02037690404, 02080893450, 02037699214, 02037693751, and 02080892462.

A company called Smart Mobile, allegedly working on behalf of O2, has been making scam calls, and I have reported them to Action Fraud, as O2 has been unhelpful in addressing the issue.
