Avoid engaging – the scammers repeatedly dialled our business line claiming meter readings and alleged overpayments, demanding bank details for a refund. They sound like an overseas call centre, even calling on weekends to disguise a sales pitch. When uou finally asked them to stop and hung up, they rang again several times, cutting the call as soon as I answered.

Avis d’expert
Approach with extreme caution: unsolicited calls from this number pose a serious scam risk, often impersonating utility or telecom firms to extract personal details. Reports highlight persistent harassment, including multiple follow-ups despite requests to stop, with accents suggesting overseas operations. Common tactics involve fake refunds for overpayments or meter readings, but they falter on basic verification like provider names. Block the number immediately on your device or via your provider, and report to Action Fraud or Ofcom to curb wider impact. Never share bank info or confirm details—hang up swiftly if suspicious. These nuisances target landlines and mobiles alike, even weekends, so vigilance is key for businesses and households.

This appears to be a scam.
An alleged BT call centre from India, clearly fraudulent.
The caller pretended to be from an energy supplier, warned me not to return the call, yet rang back five more times.
Someone pretended to be from Octopus Energy, asked for a meter reading and said I was owed a refund; as I’m not a customer, I think it’s a scam.
Uncertain whether it was National Grid, they seemed to be requesting a meter reading.
