PayPal call scam – what to watch out for! - +44 20 3901 7001 (020 3901 7001)
Summary — +442039017001
Expert Opinion
Looks like the number is being used for PayPal‑related calls, most of which people flag as a scam. Even if some callers claim it’s genuine support, PayPal never rings you out of the blue – you always have to call them first. If you get an unexpected call asking for money, account details or asking you to confirm a payment, hang up straight away and log in to your PayPal account via the official app or website. Report the number to your phone provider and to Action Fraud. Don’t press any numbers or give personal info unless you’re 100% sure it’s legit.

After being told it was PayPal and that I owed money – which I knew wasn’t true – they also asked about my electricity and gas. This raised suspicion because the day before they’d claimed to be from a Shell company, and my phone flagged it as spam. It’s unnerving how they seemed to know my providers. When the supposed PayPal agent inquired about utilities, I told him I was suspicious and hung up. He spoke with a slight Irish accent.
