If you keep getting calls that answer with a laugh or just go silent and hang up, it’s most likely a cheap spam or robocall test. The safest move is to block the number straight away and avoid answering unknown UK numbers. Register your line with the Telephone Preference Service to reduce telemarketing hits, and report persistent offenders to Ofcom. Don’t let a brief ring lure you into a conversation – the callers often hang up before you can gather any info, which is a classic tactic to confirm active lines for future scams.

Potential fraud?
This appears to be a scam
The company has called repeatedly on different numbers, the latest being this one, claiming computer trouble I never have (I only use my phone). Time to block the number, please act quickly.
Purports to be Microsoft, alleging your PC is infected and seeking access.
Spam calles are hung up imediately
Calls from telemarketers are a nuisance
This morning I received a call; they claimed they weren’t scammers despite being listed online, and I urged them to check this site.
Not helpful and confusing
They attempted to take control of my computer, claiming to be from Microsoft’s technical department.
That bloke from India tried to convince me my PC was busted, even though I don’t own one, so I called him out and hung up, lol.
During the previous 24 hours I received 23 calls, one of which came at 4 pm today. The callers claimed to represent Microsoft Windows, alleging my PC was compromised and demanding I open my laptop to provide information. I refused, and they continued calling until I warned them I would involve the police.
The caller pretended to be a Windows program, asked for the computer's main user and hung up when questioned; the call came via Viber, a twist on a classic scam.
Fraudulent claim of Microsoft support
I got this call twice this morning, thought I'd blocked it, but the first number appeared as +2035140512 and the second as 02035140512. The first operator knew my name and claimed I owned a computer; I denied it and the Indian gentleman hung up.
Ringing then disconnection

User note: Caution
They claimed to be getting error messages from my PC, mate.
They pretended to be Microsoft; I laughed and ended the call, yet they continue to call – clearly a scam
