After cancelling a contract with Virgin and O2, this call seemed suspicious. They claimed to be from Virgin/O2, saying they needed to send a new SIM due to issues. I listened briefly but eventually told them I suspected a scam and hung up. They mentioned sending a new SIM by post, possibly phishing for my address. It’s unsettling—how secure is our data from the cancelled contract?

Opinião de especialista
The caller, purporting to be from reputable companies such as O2 and Virgin, is likely a scammer attempting to phish for personal information. The repeated mentions of a free SIM, SIM deactivation, or issues with the current SIM suggest a tactic to gain the trust of the recipient. Many users have reported the call as a scam, and some have even been warned by their phones' spam detection systems. The consistency of these reports indicates a high probability of malicious intent.
