Ever wonder why that unfamiliar number keeps showing up on your caller ID? It’s likely an automated outreach from a debt‑collection agency, often linked to tax‑related debts. While some callers claim to be legit, the volume of unsolicited messages and vague references to letters you never received are red flags. Protect your personal data by verifying the caller through official channels—visit the company’s website or contact HMRC directly—before sharing any details. Consider using call‑blocking apps or asking your carrier to filter the number. If the calls persist, report them to the regulator and keep a record of timestamps and messages for future reference.

Got a text claiming my ‘customer number’ and saying I owe £1,000 to HMRC – which is nonsense. I told them they’ve got the wrong number and they keep pestering me for details, mate.
SMS about an incoming letter plus 'my customer number'. Searched the sender's number, led to Avantis site (though the digits are similar but off). Site claims I owe HMRC £998. No such debt—my HMRC accounts show zero. Phoned Avantis; they asked for all personal info to 'verify' me. I'll await the post.

This is a scammer. Instead of blocking them, I kept them on the line for a long time. By wasting their time, I prevent them from scamming vulnerable individuals and the elderly out of their money.
I have verified with HMRC that this is a scam, and I advise others to disregard the fake positive reviews and block the number immediately.

Advantis, acting on behalf of HMRC, has been a pleasant surprise, with a courteous and understanding representative who genuinely wants to assist with affordable repayments, a stark contrast to other debt recovery companies

Fraud.
Within ten minutes, I received two calls from 01782401193, both of which were hung up shortly after I answered; this behaviour is indicative of a scam caller.
It's clear this is a scam with that ridiculous voice. Ridiculous individuals. I hung up and blocked the number immediately.
Complete scam, avoid at all costs.
A message was left on my mother's answerphone regarding pension credit, which, upon investigation, appeared to be a scam; caution is advised when receiving such calls.
Warning: bad interaction
My landline has been called twice by this number, with messages left claiming to be from Advantis regarding a personal credit matter, though I didn't answer.
Having shut down my unsuccessful company, I was informed that the remaining debt belongs to the company, not me personally. Advantis, a legitimate entity, was contacted, but their attempts to coerce payment were ignored. They’ll resort to any tactic to sway you. If the debt is tied to a distinct legal entity, RESIST PAYING! Their attitude shifts to rudeness and persistence upon refusal. Now, I’m bombarded with at least four calls daily.
A fraudulent call with an English accent advised me to visit a website, which I did not do.
This is a scam, dont belive the fake reviews
When you block this number, they just change the last three digit's and carry on ringing
