Took the call – it was legitimately from the NHS Blood Donor service. All good.

Opinia expertului
Recent spikes in reports highlight a pattern of callers pretending to be the HM Passport Office. Many victims describe brief, scripted greetings, requests for security questions, or sudden hang‑ups, which are classic social engineering tactics. The number also shows up in unrelated scams – student loans, NHS blood services, and even bogus insurance offers – indicating it’s likely a hub for impersonation attacks rather than a legitimate service line. To stay safe, never share personal or financial details unless you’ve independently verified the number on an official website, use call‑blocking tools, and report suspicious calls to the relevant fraud authority. A quick callback to the official passport helpline can confirm authenticity.

This call is from the HM passport office and is legitimate.
Following a voicemail about my lost passport, I contacted the official 0300 passport office number and they assured me that outsourcing due to workload is a genuine procedure
A call came shortly after I reported my passport lost, with someone pretending to be from the passport office. I nearly believed them, but the woman's attitude raised my suspicions. I promptly contacted the main passport office to inform them.

User advises to be careful
This number rang a day after I submitted an online passport report on Gov.com. Luckily, I missed it. The voicemail with a quiet, mumbling Scottish accent made me suspicious—it's not a 0300 number, so likely a scam.
I answered, but there was silence. I reported and blocked the number.
I didn't answer as I didn't recognise the number. Checked online and others say it's the passport office. I've just reported my passport missing.
Reported a lost passport and got a call from this number the next day. Not sure if it’s genuine as the message sounded suspicious. Advice: if in doubt, contact the official number from the website.

Had a couple of calls from this number but I always ignore unknown callers. As expected, it’s another scam. Now added to my long list of blocked numbers.
Pretending to be from the Passport Office, but a quick call to them revealed it’s a fraudulent number – stay alert!
No voicemail was left, but based on other comments, if they're claiming to be from the Passport Office, it's likely a scam; I'm not British and have no need to contact the PO, so I've blocked the number.
Contrary to the prevailing negative reviews, my experience with this number was positive, as it pertained to an NHS blood donation appointment. The process was straightforward, with minimal personal information requested, and an official NHS email confirmation was received, validating the authenticity of the interaction.
