Claimed to be O2 and tried to extract details about my phone contract – definitely lying, so I blocked them.

Opinión del experto
Users frequently report receiving unsolicited calls claiming to be from O2 about mobile contracts or accounts, only to realise it's a ploy to extract personal info. One caller even admitted to the scam when confronted, highlighting the scripted nature of these deceptions. With accents suggesting foreign origins and ties to Shrewsbury, these are likely impersonation scams targeting telecom customers. Always verify claims directly with O2 via their official app or website—never share details over cold calls. Block the number immediately and report to Action Fraud if you've engaged. Staying vigilant prevents falling for these persistent tricks.

It appeared to be a Shrewsbury number, but turned out to be a bogus O2 sales rep.
A woman named Mary called, tried to sell something, then hung up—clearly a scam.
Looks like a scam.
Never pick up unknown numbers; once they stop ringing I definately check who-called.co.uk, locate the entry in my call log and block it.
After watching YouTube videos on scammers, I let a caller named 'John' about my O2 account speak. He used his script, then I told him I knew it was a scam and asked to continue the chat. He gave his real name, and I wished him luck while urging him not to target older people. He agreed not to. Definitely a scam, but at least he’s trying to earn a living.
I didn’t respond to the unknown caller.
The call was spam concerning mobile contact.
No familiar contacts in Shrewsbury, so I ignored the unknown number.
Looks like typical spam.
The caller introduced herself with a thick Indian accent, saying she was calling about an internet scam – at least she was upfront.
Someone from abroad tried to pull an internet scam on me.
