Avis d’expert
The 0161 856 6300 line is widely recognised as the outbound number used by Greater Manchester Police. Most callers report a short, one‑off ring and no voicemail, which is typical for police follow‑ups on incidents or complaints. However, scammers do spoof police IDs, so always verify the purpose before handing over any personal details. If you weren’t expecting a call, let it go to voicemail and then call the official non‑emergency line (101) yourself. Never call back the number that rang you, as it usually won’t accept inbound calls. Keep a record of the call time and any reference numbers you’re given.

Greater Manchester Police are aparently calling to follow up on a case
They rang twice, claiming my number was linked to a stolen car. When asked for my name, I told them to take a hike. If it were Manchester Police, they’d know my details—I’ve had this number forever. Scammers can spoof any number via apps. Avoid!

Today, I received a call from this number claiming to be the police, but something felt off. The caller mentioned they had a missed call from my number, but I never contacted the police; my phone wasn't even active then. Strangely, when I checked my phone, it indicated I had called the police about 20 minutes prior. This left me puzzled, so I looked up the number and found it linked to scams. Quite odd! Based on what I discovered, I feel worried, and the caller didn't have the typical police tone; he had a slight scouse accent, whereas officers usually sound like they’re from Manchester. Considering all I've read, this is definitely concerning.
A man with a rude demeanor called to discuss life insurance, became irritated when I refused to provide details, and failed to disclose the company he represented, which led me to believe it was another scam, and I would advise others not to trust such calls.
