Unknown Ring — Scam Warning! - +44 161 520 2563 (0161 520 2563)

This was a fraudulent insurance operation.

Alert: 01615202563 is being reported as a scam.

A man introduced himself as William, claiming to discuss a recent road accident I was involved in; I told him I'm a fleet manager handling several cases and asked which incident, but he couldn't give a date or status and I told him off before he hung up. Blocked and deleted.

Someone claimed they needed to discuss an accident I supposedly had last year – yet my most recent incident was this year. They said the MIB required my details but couldn’t provide the MIB number, raising numerous red flags.

This appears to be a fraudulent call.

They mentioned a recent motor accident, but when I asked which one, they hung up – sounds like a scam.

I ignored the unknown caller, no voicemail was left. After reading useful posts, I blocked the number.

Got a call about a traffic incident I never had – clearly a scam.

They rang and immediately hung up when I asked about it – a typical bell‑ringing scam.

My phone flagged this number as a possible scam; after checking, it proved to be one. Avoid contacting it.

Alert: this is a scam! All fraudulent numbers and attempts ought to be reported directly to the police fraud database. Search for ‘action fraud’ and visit the police.uk site, then go to the ‘report a phishing attempt’ page and read the full guidance, including where to forward scam emails. Complete the scam report form at the bottom of that page, providing full details such as any links or web addresses in the free‑text field. No registration or personal data is required unless you’re reporting a fraud that caused a loss. Submitting scam calls and texts helps the police gauge the scale of these crimes. Screenshots of scam texts should also be sent to the appropriate authority.

This number is a scam; see the post for instructions on reporting it. Be aware criminals generate millions of fake UK numbers, making blocking largely ineffective. Definately consider contacting your MP to push for caller ID authentication similar to the US.

Below are two posts that explain how to curb these scams and why blocking alone may be insufficient. Reporting takes as little time as posting here. Although immediate action is unlikely, police are still unaware of the full scale of this crime wave or the newest tactics. Unless every recipient logs these calls and texts and complains to their MP, nothing changes. Also, never return a missed call from an unknown number without verifying it. Reasons include: it might be a wangiri‑style scam; it could be a genuine person’s number—scammers often recycle real numbers; and you risk exposing your own number to fraudsters.
