Avis d’expert
Silent rings and dodgy pitches about loft insulation or green energy schemes often signal unwanted intrusions from persistent callers. These nuisances typically hang up on answerphones, avoiding real contact while wasting your time—especially if you're catching some kip. Reports highlight scripted chats from 'advisors' like Chris, pushing inspections that lead nowhere legit. Register with the Telephone Preference Service straight away to cut down on such calls, and always verify claims independently before engaging. If suspicious, report to Action Fraud or your provider without delay. Hanging up firmly protects your peace—no need to chat.

I dropped the call as soon as the automated message started, lol.

Got a scam call pretending to be from Green Solar Energy, using AI tactics.
That was definitely a scam, no point in answering, mate.
A man named Chris rang my landline, alleging he was calling about loft insulation. When I asked how he knew the insulation type, he said it was listed on a national register. As I’d installed the insulation myself, I doubted his story. Chris (if that’s his real name) tried to push an inspection, but faltered when my questions took him off script and hung up when I declined. A friend experienced a similar call years ago and only realised it was likely a scam when the ‘surveyor’ showed up. I was therefore highly sceptical from the outset.
An Australian lady introduced herself as a local home‑energy adviser and then I hung up, ta.
I ignored the call – another scam attempt.
At 12:30 the usual nuisance rang, and when I tried to answer, they hung up – they ruined my chance of getting some precious sleep.
Annoying call – I hung up before answering.
