I was experiencing phone and internet hacking when the call arrived. The scammers direct victims to report these numbers as scams to mask a corrupt family‑run “group” that includes police contacts, 101/999 staff, AF, NCA, SFO, public service professionals, GPs, journalists, court personnel and even judges exploiting neighbours. I urge anyone to check whether they hold 3‑5 property title deeds, their own and parents' names, plus two gateway numbers, as a batch of government‑related crime scams is being registered without consent, using stolen identities for HMRC tax fraud, tribunal cases, NHS liabilities and DWP disability claims. Then raise the alarm!

The collections team from Octopus Energy called about an arrears account, were courteous and non‑pressuring, and we settled on a repayment plan I was comfortable with.

After receiving a call from this number, I reached out to Octopus Energy; they confirmed it wasn’t them and that they never request personal details unless you initiate contact.

Honestly, it felt like genuine Octopus Energy – I paused the call, checked the website for authenticity, even texted my details to confirm, and they never pushed a payment, just asked about direct debit, solid stuff, yeah.
