Expert Opinion
Heads up: calls from +27879433270 are frequently tied to voucher scams that misuse your ID and banking info. Callers rush through a scripted pitch, claim you’ve won discounts at stores like OK Furniture, Checkers or Shoprite, and press for confirmation of your personal details. Never confirm your name, ID, or account number over the phone, even if the operator seems to already have them. Hang up immediately, block the number, and report the incident to your mobile provider and the fraud desk of your bank. Scrutinize any follow‑up SMS – genuine offers will never ask for further data. Consider using call blocking apps and stay alert for unexpected voucher promises.

Feeling anxious about an incoming scam
On 03/05/2017 at 12:22, a man phoned and verified my name and ID number. When I inquired about his business, he claimed I'd won a voucher from OK Furniture and that they'd take R99 from my account. He disconnected before I could respond. I'm truly concerned; assistance needed.
Got a ring from them today around 11:55. Claimed I'd won a discount voucher for purchases at places like OK, Fruit and Veg, Shoprite and such, and they'd text it after our chat. Still no SMS arrived, and their line won't connect. I pressed the woman multiple times on her company's name, but she dodged it clearly, as I never caught it. Figured the voucher would reveal who they are.
Received identical call, switched my banking details immediately, and intend to get a new ID
Hawu Nkosi bonke imininingwane yami banayo, ini lokhu kusho ukuthi??? /??/
Ushayele kuleyo nombolo. Uqinisekise igama lami futhi wayefuna ukuqinisekisa i-ID yami awayinayo. Lapho ngimbuzela ukuthi wayuyithola kuphi inombolo ye-ID, wathobela ukungithembisa i-SMS futhi wathi bye. Kuyikhozi, noma ngabe wenza yini, uma bekucacisa inombolo ye-ID yakho nenombolo ye-akhawunti, ungathi yebo ngoba bazoyirekhoda lokho futhi balusebenzise njengesibonelo sokuthenga izinto ngokushayela ucingo. Bese bezoqala ukudonsa ku-akhawunti yakho. Phinda, ungavumeli ulwazi lomuntu wakho ngokuthi yebo. Lokho okufunayo ukukurekhoda futhi bakwebele imali yakho
Just received a ring from them... Seems like our service providers have security issues or share our data with these folks.. Note your provider below, let's spot the shared one that's enabling these scams for collective action... Mine: MTN, Zando, Capitec, Edcon
A chick rang me at 13:12, freaked me out knowing my info—who's she?
Ushayele ngemininingwane yami kanye nezinombolo ze-Id, qaphela, imali yami ihambile
Unknown caller ignored, no voicemail left. Searched online for details, won't ring back without knowing the source but no luck yet. Any idea who's behind it?
Phoned to check if I got an SMS about a Shoprite Checkers voucher and such... the woman verified my full name and even my bank account number, what the heck...
A Caucasian woman also rang me, offering a R14,000 voucher through text. Terrifying since she knew my ID, though she skipped my bank details.
Angibathembisi ngoba bayayazi inombolo yami ye-ID kanye nenombolo ye-akhawunti
Received a call from 0879433270 by a young black woman; she dodged all my queries, claiming I'd been chosen for purchase discounts and should've gotten an sms about UT, which I hadn't. I questioned her company's gain since it seemed pointless, but she evaded; before disconnecting, she recited my ID exactly, and when I asked her source, she mentioned a database. She talks rapidly, gives evasive or vague replies, with loud background noise. The whole thing wraps up fast.
