Repeated calls and texts have been received, warning of a penalty if a call is not returned by a specified time, allegedly regarding Social Security benefits and Medicare.
The individual on the other end of the line had a thick accent and claimed to be handling Social Security matters, but seemed untrustworthy, and the call was not returned.
The caller claimed to be working on my application and asked for personal info, but when I called back, the number was invalid, it's alarming to know how they got my information.
I received multiple messages, including voicemails, texts, and emails, requesting pension information and threatening to deny my claim if not provided by a certain deadline.

A suspicious letter was received, purporting to be from the Durham, NC office, claiming to work on my social security benefits application, which I had submitted online. Given my residence in Raleigh and the presence of a local office where I had dropped off documentation, this seemed unusual. The letter instructed me to contact Ms. M. Palmer at 855-897-4927 ext 27741 by a specific date. After leaving multiple messages without a response until after the deadline, I finally spoke with her. She requested my social security number, which I refused to provide, citing that she should already have it if she indeed had my file. I had submitted all required documents to the Raleigh office just over a week prior, so I questioned what additional information she needed. Her request for my BNC number from the letter raised further suspicions. Believing this to be a scam, I ended the call and plan to report the incident to the Social Security Administration in Washington D.C.
The caller requested my full SSN and provided a contact person, but no follow-up call was ever made.
After receiving an official letter from SS in Durham, NC, from Mrs. Havill, requesting a call within 30 days to 1-855-897-4927 ext. 27767, I called and left a message, and someone returned the call the following week, but I'm now worried as I didn't verify the authenticity beforehand.

They tryed calling me and when i didnt answer, they sent me a text with a phone appointment for 20 minute's later, i answerd and they wanted to verify my ssa, but i didnt give them any info.
This caller is remarkably convincing, having contacted me with a recording on February 11th and setting up a fake SSA email and phone number, 781-844-4812
Looking up a known phone number seems counterintuitive, especially when the caller's identity is already known; there must be a more logical explanation for this inquiry.
Fortunately, I answered the call from this number, which turned out to be a legitimate call from Social Security
During the converstaion, alot of gurgleing noises were heard, which made it dificult to understand the person, who called twice on 11/07

A guy just called me with this number and said it was about my social security, then he ask for my birthdate.

Its obvious they are scammers, no goverment agency will ask for your Soc Sec #, thats just not right
