Expert Opinion
Imagine receiving a call that pretends to be your credit‑reporting agency, promising a lower interest rate on a card you never applied for. That scenario matches the bulk of complaints about 888‑397‑3742. Callers typically use a spoofed Experian ID, claim affiliation with “Credit Card Services,” and pressure you to press keys or share personal data. Red flags include no prior relationship, vague company name, urgent language, and requests for Social Security or card details. Hang up immediately, block the number, and verify any legitimate issue by contacting the official institution through a known phone line or website. Reporting the number to the FTC or your carrier can also help curb future spam.
