Apparently, this is a genuine AmEx number, as it's listed on the back of my card and was used to contact me regarding suspicious activity on my account, but it's also possible that someone is spoofing it, much like a scammer recently spoofed my cell number, leading to angry calls from people claiming I had called them while my phone was off and locked away

Fortunately, I had a positive experience with this number, which I found on the back of my AMEX card, and used it to verify my balance a couple of months ago. However, it appears that AMEX has since updated their customer service number, which is now available on their website, and I was able to use the new number, 800-528-4800, to check my balance. It seems that the old number is no longer in use, and after conducting some research, I understand why they made the change. I consider myself lucky to have not received any suspicious calls from this number.
