When I called the number back, 866-662-3339, I spoke with a rep named Tabitha, and she seemed legit, asking me to fax over an employment verification form for one of our new employees.
The caller claimed to be from Equifax, but a search revealed that the number is not affiliated with Equifax.

The caller falsely claimed to be from The Work Number, seeking to verify employment details, which I believe to be a scam, as our company does use this service for verification purposes.
