Never share personal details with unsolicited callers. When a call claims to be from United Healthcare, verify the number against the official contact listed on your member ID or the company website before providing social security numbers, birth dates, or banking info. Ask for a callback on a known line and listen for recorded greetings that sound generic. Report suspicious calls to United Healthcare’s fraud department and to the FTC. Keep a log of the caller ID, time, and any names mentioned; this helps authorities track patterns. Remember, legitimate providers will never pressure you to sign documents or give payment info over the phone.
