Yesterday afternoon, a wave of calls from 833‑552‑1038 hit inboxes and phones nationwide. Most callers claim to represent Anthem or a Medicare‑welcome program, but they hand out a different name—often Care Guide—and pressure recipients for DOB, address, or social security details. That pattern matches a classic scam rather than a legitimate insurer. The safest move is to hang up, avoid sharing any personal info, and contact Anthem directly using the number on your member card. Block the source in your phone, file a complaint with the FCC or FTC, and consider a call‑filtering app for extra protection regularly today.

It is questionable why a legitimate company would consistently call without leaving a name or message.
This number is a source of annoyance, consistently making spam or robocalls

Spam call with a prerecorded message about a fake charity; ignore it.
This number claims to be associated with BCBS Anthem, but repeated calls and voicemails suggest otherwise

Received a suspicious call!
A complaint has been filed with the FCC regarding this number, which initially appeared as a non-profit on my caller ID. After calling back, I requested to be added to their do-not-call list, as I am already registered on the national Do Not Call registry. I also expressed concern about the misleading caller ID and have since blocked the number
Despite blocking the number, multiple voice messages are still being received from scammers claiming to be from Anthem, and they have been asked to remove the number from their list.
Another spam call that went straight to voicemail; they left a generic message about a 'special offer'.
they didnt leave a voicemail, and I didnt bother calling back
Answering the call connected to a woman claiming to represent Anthem, who requested to speak with my husband to discuss his coverage. Informing her that he is legally deaf and unable to communicate over the phone, she declined to discuss the matter with me, stating she would call back later. If the call is returned, it will be interesting to observe her response when confronted about the veracity of her claims.
The caller requested sensitive personal details, including social security numbers, without proper identification.
Spam call—nothing but repeated promotional noise with no real offer.

As Laura K mentioned, if you're an Anthem insurance customer, they already have your identification information and don't need you to verify it over the phone.
They called me about my Anthem account and wanted my adress and birthdate, but I didnt give them my birthdate, they said they couldnt contiune the call, I asked for a number to call back and they gave me this one.
A call from 833.552.1038 was received but not answered, recognizing it was not the legitimate Blue Cross number, and subsequently blocked.
Calls from this number, falsely claiming to be from Anthem, request personal information and provide a fake callback number, verified as a scam by Anthem's customer service
A welcoming call from Anthem, or so it claimed, raised red flags when personal information was requested for verification purposes, especially since the call seemed suspicious and the provided number led to a robot voice identifying itself as Care Guide.
The caller introduced themselves as Anthem and requested personal information to verify my identity, but I only provided my address, as it is publicly available, and refused to give my phone number or date of birth.
