Expert Opinion
Guard your personal data by treating any unsolicited call claiming to be from Chase Bank with deep skepticism. Scammers often reference recent transactions, fraud alerts, or credit‑card upgrades to pressure you into providing account numbers, Social Security digits, or expiration dates. Verify the caller independently by hanging up and dialing the official bank number found on a statement or the bank’s website. Never confirm partial card numbers or give out passwords over the phone. Enable multi‑factor authentication on your accounts and monitor statements for unfamiliar activity. If a call feels pushy or vague, report it to your bank’s fraud department and consider filing a complaint with the FTC.

It appears this is an outdated Chase number, one they no longer use, making it seem legitimate. They identify themselves as Chase or Discovery. When I try to call back, it says the number is out of service, indicating they can only initiate calls to me.
Following my response to the initial prompt, the caller inquired about my familiarity with the purpose of the call. I chose to reciprocate his ambiguity, stating I was aware but preferred him to elaborate. He then proceeded to inform me that my payments were up to date and that I was eligible for an additional $5000 monthly due to my good payment history over the past eight months. I feigned interest, and when he requested my expiration date to verify my account, I provided a fabricated one. He claimed it was correct and asked if my card was a Visa or Discovery, to which I replied it was the latter. He then read out a series of numbers, asking me to complete the sequence after '61100', which I recognized as an attempt to obtain my credit card number. I terminated the call, and when he rang back, I explained that I don't share credit card details over the phone. His response was one of surprise when I revealed that I had provided false information, leading to a confrontational exchange before I ended the call again.
