Expertenmeinung
If you see a call that flashes Capital One on the screen and immediately starts talking about lowering your credit‑card interest rate, it’s almost certainly a spoofed ID scam. The callers will ask for your total balances, card numbers, or even an “yes” to confirm you want a rate cut – legit banks never ask for that over a cold call. Hang up right away, block the number, and avoid calling back the spoofed line. Report the incident to the FTC or your phone carrier, and consider placing your number on the national Do‑Not‑Call registry to cut down future junk. Stay skeptical and protect your personal data.

Claimed affiliation with Card Services, but ID showed Capital One. Pushed the line about perfect Experian payments qualifying me for rate cuts on cards. Wanted my card details; I refused, noting legit outfits already have that info and Capital One never asks over phone. They denied Capital One ties, blaming ID on being the servicing bank for all cards and issuers. I called BS, ended the call, and blocked them.
This lady scammer with a thick Indian accent claimed the call was to slash interest on every card I own. She mentioned spotting my timely payments over minimum on Experian. Caller ID showed Capital One. Wanted debt details—I refused personal info. Why would Capital One handle all my cards? She quizzed if I knew Experian, kept pushing for owed amounts. If she had Experian access, she'd know already, right? Then threw out guesses like over $8000. Told her to buzz off 'cause it was nonsense.
Display showed CAPITAL ONE; caller inquired about Experian use and offered credit card rate reduction. NOW WHAT?????
Caller ID showed ''Capital One'' yet they claimed to be from Experian, saying they'd tracked my credit and noted my solid progress, timely payments exceeding the minimum, but excessive interest; they offered to "reduce my rates and escape debt" (their phrasing). I replied that it wouldn't benefit me since I owe nothing, have no active accounts, and make no payments—then the line went dead. Clearly a fraud. STAY ALERT.
When i recieved call from this number, caller ID display Capital One, but the person on the phone was trying to scam me into lowering my intrest rate.
Showed as Capital One but caller wouldn't confirm, pushed to lower rates and hounded for 'yes'—I said it's only via secure email, then he bailed. Total scam!
Capital One is allegedly attempting to obtain personal information through a card scam.
It appears some calls are spoofed, yet dialing the number directs to customer support for business accounts, which shouldn't be contacting individuals without prior initiation.
Similar to the previouse experience, the caller ID displayed Capital One. The lady had a thick accent and spoken rapidly. I informed her that I was struggeling to understand her, but she continued talking. After repeating my concern, she hung up. I contacted Capital One to verify, and they confirmed it was indeed them.
The caller claim's to be a representative from Capital One's business account's department, but it's a scam, they just want to get your personal information, be careful.
The same 'interest reduction' scam, masquerading as Capital One, was attempted. The caller, a woman with a thick Filipina accent, was calling from a noisy location. As soon as she mentioned 'interest reduction,' I recognized it as a scam and terminated the call without providing any information.
As of September 2023, I continue to receive calls about reducing my interest rate, with the representative hanging up when I expressed my intention to contact my credit card company directly.
Somebody called about reducing my credit card rate, the caller ID said capital one, but when i told him to call me back, it said Discover on the caller ID, pretty sure the number's are legit but it’s not actually those people calling from those number's.
The caller claimed to represent both Capital One and Discover, but hung up when I asked him to verify my identity
Someone claiming to be from Capital One called, but I didnt ansver and blocked the number
The caller ID said "Capital One", but it was clearly a spoofed number and name, the man on the phone had an indian accent and told me that my "profile had been recommanded by Experian for a interest rate reduction on my credit cards", that raised a red flag, because Capital One uses Transunion, so i ended the call.
They kept phoning to offer credit reduction but turned nasty when I said no thanks. Totally insane!

These callers are impersonating Capital One Bank, which is clearly a scam.
The caller's introduction was cut off, as it seemed like a typical sales pitch.
