Chase fraud scam calls: What to watch for! - +1 800-839-7416 ((800) 839-7416)

Expert Opinion
Calls from this number claim to be from Chase’s fraud department, yet the script mirrors common phishing tactics. The messages often use urgent language, request verification codes, or ask for credit‑card and account details, which are classic red flags. Hang up immediately and never share personal information such as Social Security numbers, passwords, or card numbers. Verify any alleged issue by calling the phone number on the back of your Chase card or logging into your account through the official website—do not trust the callback number in the voicemail. Consider blocking the caller and reporting the incident to the FTC or your bank’s fraud team. Using official channels, protecting personal information, and reporting scams are the best defenses.

Apparently, Chase has implemented a rather questionable fraud alert system, which exhibits characteristics of a scam, yet it is legitimate. I received two calls from this number, approximately 30 minutes apart, where a robotic voice requested confirmation of my name, followed by a 10-minute hold, only to announce that no representatives were available and provided an alternative number to call later. Interestingly, neither of these numbers is published by Chase, and their representatives are unaware of them. After contacting Chase's main customer service number, I obtained the official number for the Chase Fraud Department, which confirmed there was indeed an issue with my account requiring verification. However, even the representatives at the Fraud Department were unaware of the automated calls or the unpublished numbers.
Apparently this is the worst

This number initiated an auto-dial call to my office, prompting me to wait for a representative to pick up, at which point I inquired about the purpose of the call, to which the rep, with a notable accent, claimed to be from Chase's Fraud department, only to apologize and hang up shortly after, with the number calling again just half an hour later, leaving me perplexed.
