Expert Opinion

Tonight in Toronto, you may find your phone lighting up with a caller ID that reads “Scotiabank.” The pattern across reports shows a robocall that pretends to be a bank representative, asks for personal details, and repeats the call until you comply. Never share your account number, PIN, or other sensitive data with an unsolicited caller. Use your phone’s block feature, add the number to the national Do Not Call list, and consider a call‑filtering app. Report the incident to Scotiabank’s fraud department and file a complaint with the FTC or your provincial consumer agency. Staying skeptical and keeping records are the best defenses against this financial scam.

He remarked that he didnt mention being from Scotiabank, however the ID clearly indacated it. I subsequenly contacted Scotiabank and reported this incident, suspecting the number had been comprimised by scamers.
