Most reports point to a classic impersonation scam targeting Scotiabank customers. The number shows up as official on caller ID, but callers either hang up, deliver vague fraud alerts, or push you to call a 1‑800 line. Never share personal details, and always verify by dialing the number on the back of your card or logging in via the bank’s official website. If you suspect a phishing attempt, report the call to Scotiabank’s fraud department and consider blocking the number. Staying skeptical and using trusted contact channels are your best defenses.
