An attempt was made to trick me into a wire transfer under the guise of clearing questionable transactions, which would have resulted in financial loss.

My husband received a text message yesterday that read:

A suspicious caller claimed to be from Chase, stating that someone was charging my account $2000 at a time, but it was likely a spoofing attempt

Following a text message allegedly from Chase's fraud department, I received multiple calls from the 405 number, which I declined, and eventually spoke with a man who claimed to be addressing a fraud issue on my account, but he became silent when I suggested calling back through the official number on my card.

This number showed up on my caller ID, dont know who it is or what they want.

Apparently, the phone number 405-272-9935 is a legitimate Chase Bank number, however it's being utilised by scammers through a method called 'masking', allowing them to disguize their actual number, thus making it seem like the call is originating from Chase Bank, when in fact, it's not, so if you recieve a call from this number, immediatly hang up and contact Chase Bank directly, hopefully these scamers will be caught soon and their operation shutted down.
