Expert Opinion
Turns out these calls are classic lottery‑win scams, using high‑pressure tactics and bogus fees to trick you into wiring money. The scammers often spoof legitimate‑sounding names like the U.S. Lottery Commission, but the lack of verification steps and the demand for upfront payments are red flags. Never send money or share personal info to an unsolicited caller, and hang up if you’re asked to pay fees. Report the number to your carrier and the FTC, and consider blocking unknown callers. If you’re ever unsure, verify directly through official lottery websites or contact the agency using a known phone number.
