Expert Opinion
Imagine picking up the phone only to hear a robotic voice claiming the IRS or a student‑loan program wants to lock you into a payment plan you never signed up for. That’s the hallmark of a classic robocall scam—they rely on fear and urgency to get a reaction. Most callers from +13059855505 use generic scripts about tax liens, criminal investigations, or bogus loan reductions, often with an Indian or Hispanic accent to add credibility. Hang up immediately, block the number, and report it to the FTC. Never press any buttons or provide personal data; scammers harvest numbers from data‑brokers and use them for future spam. A quick Google search of the caller ID often reveals a pattern of complaints, confirming it’s a telemarketing fraud operation.

Initially, an automated dialing system contacts you to determine if your number is active. Upon answering, the call hangs up immediately. Subsequently, the system recognizes your number as viable and adds it to numerous calling lists, resulting in repeated calls from various numbers. In my experience, after receiving the initial hang-up call, I was bombarded with nine calls from different numbers within an hour, effectively rendering my phone line unusable. It is essential to note that filing a complaint with the FTC may be ineffective, as many of these companies operate overseas, beyond the reach of federal and state authorities. The most effective course of action is to disregard unfamiliar calls, which will eventually lead to a cessation of these solicitations.
