A person posing as Chase Bank claimed a new credit card had been opened in my name. I kept answering, then placed the handset on hook, sending them to voicemail. The caller didn’t notice and was actually speaking to someone in the room with an Indian accent. Stay alert—this is a scam.

Expert Opinion
Heads up: these calls are classic phishing attempts masquerading as Chase Bank. They often cite a bogus credit‑card application and sprinkle personal data like the last four of your SSN to sound legit. Never hand over personal or financial details, especially if the caller’s English is broken or they pressure you to act fast. Hang up, block the number, and verify any alleged issues directly with your bank using official contact info—not the number that rang. Consider enrolling in a credit‑freeze or fraud alert, and report the number to the FTC or your carrier’s spam‑blocking service.
