It became apparent that a scammer had spoofed the AMEX number, as they provided my name and an old address to appear legitimate, claiming someone had opened a new card in my name to purchase illegal weapons, and even offered assistance with filing a police report in Shanghai, which raised suspicions, leading me to ask for a callback and then hang up to verify with actual AMEX employees, who confirmed no fraudulent activity.
